About the course:

Research on social loneliness and social networks indicates that individuals with psychiatric disabilities often have significantly fewer social connections compared to the general population. The social domain encompasses a comprehensive body of knowledge relevant to all rehabilitation professionals across all levels and services. This course was developed to equip rehabilitation workers with a broad understanding and practical tools for working in the social field. It was created in collaboration with organizations that provide social and leisure services.

Key topics in the course: social functioning, social skills and social cognition, stigma and self-stigma, community integration and leisure, practical tools for individual and group work in the social field, interpersonal communication, relationships, romantic relationships and sexuality, and programs in the areas of social life and leisure.

Course Objectives:

  • The student will understand the challenges and opportunities faced by individuals in realizing their potential in the social sphere of their lives.
  • The student will expand their familiarity with various significant content areas within the social world of individuals facing challenges.
  • The student will receive practical tools for meaningful engagement in the social field.

Course Structure:

14 sessions, each comprising 4 hours of study followed by a two-hour training workshop divided into two groups.

Participants:

 Professionals at all career levels (coordinators, care coordinators, managers) and support staff from all fields who recognize the importance of the social services field and are interested in expanding their knowledge and skills in this area.

Course Requirements:

  • Attendance is required for 85% of the classes.
  • Active participation in classroom discussions and exercises
  • Dilemma presentation in the training workshop and its processing in a written assignment
  • Submission of Assignments as Required and Submission of the Final Course Project

Admission Requirements:

  • A rehabilitation worker currently employed in any of the fields within the community mental health rehabilitation system

Course Cost:

Cost per participant: 980 NIS. Ministry of Health contribution: 2,230 NIS.
