About the Course

 Meaningful employment enables a meaningful life in the community. Employment allows an individual to redefine their self beyond their identity as a person coping with challenges (Thomas & Fraser, 2009).

In the field of vocational rehabilitation in mental health today, there is a growing emphasis on integrating individuals with mental health challenges into the open labor market. This integration is based on the belief that it is possible and requires a comprehensive support process that includes various stages, ranging from helping the individual become aware of their needs, tendencies, desires, and the world around them, to training and practicing skills, and ultimately achieving successful integration into the workforce.

 Part of the role of the employment counselor in the various employment services—who believes in the individual’s ability to engage in meaningful work over the long term—is to help the individual define and identify the various skills required for their job and improve their performance in those areas. This course will cover key topics from the evolving and dynamic world of work and will focus on the integration of individuals with disabilities into the workforce. Participants will learn skills and tools that enable the development of a professional identity and career growth, acquire skills and support for job search, and receive assistance in retaining that job over the long term.

Key Course Topics: Concepts related to the world of work in general and the open labor market in particular, such as: characteristics of the world of work and occupational analysis. Guidelines for supporting participants in the career development process, including: creating a personal career vision and developing employability skills.

Course Objectives

• The student will learn and understand concepts, approaches, and tools for recovery-oriented rehabilitation work in mental health.
• The student will identify and understand trends and changes in the world of work and concepts of career development.
• Students will learn about tools and acquire skills for the career counseling process in general, and specifically during times of crisis
• Students will discuss and practice strategies for supporting individuals with mental health challenges as they integrate into the new world of work, with an emphasis on emotional, cognitive, and functional tools.

Course Structure

 The course consists of 14 sessions, each lasting six hours. The last two hours will be devoted to a training workshop held in two parallel groups.

Participants

This course is designed for 30 participants working in occupational rehabilitation services under the supervision of the Ministry of Health, and/or for employees leading employment promotion projects and private entrepreneurs for this population in the open market.

Course Requirements

• Mandatory attendance in 90% of classes.
• Participation in exercises and assignments throughout the course
• Submission of a dilemma processing assignment in the training group.
• Submission of a course completion assignment.

Admission Requirements

• Actively works in the field of occupational rehabilitation in mental health.
• The number of participants in the course is limited, so register soon.

Course Cost:

Cost per participant: 980 NIS. Ministry of Health contribution: 2,230 NIS.
