Training course, Supervision, Phase 1 in Mental Health Rehabilitation
About the course
Training is an important and essential component in the introduction and implementation of professional practice in mental health rehabilitation. The course aims to train professionals who are actually involved in training in training skills in the recovery approach, which will enable and advance the learners in their work as instructors in various rehabilitation settings. The course is intended to train professionals who train professional workers and/or professional support workers.
Course objectives
- The student will learn the key roles of a guide in the recovery approach.
- The student will become familiar with key concepts in mental health rehabilitation guidance (such as the recovery approach and the relational approach) and will also learn about combining the role of the guide with management roles.
- The student will improve skills in individual and group instruction, including asking questions, empathetic listening, identifying parallel processes, and reflection, through theoretical learning, experimentation, and practice.
- The student will learn how to use creative means in instruction.
- The student will develop skills of instructional communication, which include reciprocity, maintaining open dialogue, focusing on relationships, and using appropriate self-disclosure.
Course structure
The course includes 17 sessions, each lasting 6 academic hours, consisting of lectures and exercises.
In the last two hours of each meeting, a training workshop is held in two groups.
Participants
The course is intended for 30 professionals who actually work in community rehabilitation services, supervise professional workers and/or support professional workers, and have at least two years of work experience in the field of mental health rehabilitation.
Course requirements
- Mandatory attendance at 90% of classes, active participation, including participation in experiments, exercises, and simulations
- Participation in the training group, including presenting a training event for group discussion and writing a summary and reflection.
- Presenting a report in class
- Writing a summary paper in pairs
- Reading professional literature during the course
Admission conditions
- Has a bachelor's degree in at least one of the therapeutic professions in the field of mental health (social worker, occupational therapist, psychologist, certified psychiatric nurse, graduate of the Department of Community Mental Health)
- Have at least two years of experience working in the field of mental health rehabilitation
- Have taken a previous course within the rehabilitation school that is consistent with their role in the service (i.e. rehabilitation unit managers are required to take a management course)
- Currently supervises at least two professionals or paraprofessionals in the field of mental health rehabilitation in the community
- Commit to mentoring at least two mentees from some rehabilitation setting during the year. It is important to emphasize that professionals who are not actually involved in providing mentoring will not be accepted to the course!
- Receives actual training on training on the trainings he provides to professionals/professional support staff

Course cost:
Cost per participant: 1,185 NIS. Ministry of Health participation: 2,710 NIS.
