Brief training on routine and emergency trauma for senior managers and executive instructors
On Saturday, 7.10.23, Israel entered a state of war like no other, and a war of iron swords. The state of emergency spread throughout the length and breadth of the country, and its residents are exposed every day and hour to the danger of life and many and severe losses. This war and its consequences have led to complex and ongoing exposure to trauma for many people, as well as prolonged evacuation and the fragmentation of support networks. Recognizing the impact of trauma on mental health, it is of great importance to train professional managers and senior employees in trauma-sensitive interventions at the individual, organizational, and community levels.
These senior managers will educate and train their teams, ensuring the implementation of evidence-based practices for interventions with individuals, communities, and organizations directly or indirectly affected by trauma. By providing the tools and knowledge, it will be possible to make a significant difference in the field of mental health rehabilitation, promoting recovery, integration, and building resilience among those affected by trauma.
The training was developed by the Israeli Coalition for Trauma, which was established in 2001 and brings together many partners, including organizations, non-profits, and government ministries involved in the field.
The coalition develops, together with partners from Israel and abroad, solutions for emergency and post-emergency care, and trains professionals from various fields and volunteers – in emergency preparedness, emergency work, and post-emergency rehabilitation. The coalition deals with trauma among the population: direct response in the areas of community resilience, emergency preparedness, and training and instruction for intervention teams.
The training is free of charge and is funded by the Ministry of Health, Mental Health Division.
Training structure:
6 sessions of 6 hours each. Each session will contain knowledge transfer/applied workshop portion and a peer discussion portion. The last portion of each day will be dedicated to training.
Participants:
40 senior managers and supervisors in the field of mental health rehabilitation.

Basic concepts in trauma and resilience.
Trauma-sensitive work in one-time emergencies and ongoing emergencies.
The roles of assistance and guidance in the face of exposure to trauma and emergency.
Community trauma, approaches and practices for community work in routine and emergency situations.
Loss and bereavement in an ongoing emergency.
The consequences of exposure to trauma on teams, and team retention in an ongoing emergency.
Tools for training and transferring the content learned to the organization's employees.
